Looking for those final touches to add to your wedding day to make it absolutely unforgettable? We all know wedding budgets get out of hand very quickly so we’ve made sure that these ideas are low cost but high reward!
There’s nothing better than having that thing that everyone remembers about your special day. There are also some ideas that will leave you with a keepsake that will be there to remind you of your favourite day with your favourite people, forevveeerrrr, so let’s dive into it!
- Film Camera Passed Around Throughout The Night. Yes you probably already have your professional photographer sorted so giving all your guests to take more “behind the scenes” photo of your event will be the perfect finish for your wedding album! Buy a film camera and let it roam around throughout the wedding! TIP: A polaroid camera is a potential substitute however, someone will have to constantly watch to swap in new film, people often open the back which ends up in wasting a photo and the photos may get lost throughout the night. Stick to a film camera. ANOTHER TIP: There is an app called POV Disposable Camera Events which adds all photos to a shared album with the guests saving you money on buying a film camera and time on developing film!
- Family Love Story Cards. Does your family and in laws have some amazing love stories? Share them with guests! Write little love stories with a photo of the couple whether it be your grandparents, your aunty and uncle in law, favourite cousins, great great grandparents, whoever! Have them accessible for guests to read through throughout the day. Sometimes its nice for guests to have something to do while formalities happen, they’re also a great conversation starter for guests who don’t know each other. And also a great way for one side of the family to learn more about the other!
- Guess the Dress Activity. Print out some female sketches/stick figures on brown/card papers a provide the guests with white pencils. Before the reveal of the bride the guests can use the pencil to draw over the figure and guess what the dress will look like. Another fun way to keep guests engaged before the ceremony and a funny keepsake to have after the wedding. Turn it into a competition with prizes for those who guessed the closest!
- Personalised Seating Chart. Unless you’re having a wedding with hundreds of people (or you have endless time), write each guest a hand written letter in an envelope mentioning a memory or just a personal note and include their seating place. An original and heartfelt way to make your guests feel welcomed and special.
- Table Numbers with Bride and Groom at that Age. Under each table number number include a photo of the bride and groom at the age of the table number side by side. So table 1 will include a photo of you at age 1. Another great conversation starter and ice breaker for guests at each table as well as a low cost and thoughtful decoration.
- Add Fun Relationship Facts to Table Numbers. Why not add a little more to table numbers and include a fun fact about the bride and grooms relationship that all guests might not know.
- Welcome Mirror. Have a welcome mirror at the entrance rather than a welcome sign. Write something like “You look great, thank you for being here!” Or “X and Y’s Wedding 2025”. A great way to greet guests, especially those that love to take mirror selfies!
- Have a Singalong During the Cake Cutting. Everyone watching you cut the cake can sometimes be awkward and a bit silent. Why not embrace the moment and play a song that everyone knows and encourage guests to belt the words as you cut the cake creating an unforgettable memory for everyone.
- Reserved Seats for Loved Ones who Passed. Have seats with reserved signs and names of loved ones in heaven. A beautiful way to have them part of your special day and in peoples thoughts.
- Busy bags for Kids. Having a wedding with kids allowed? You’re going to want to keep them busy! Create little bags for them that contain things to keep them entertained. Colouring books + pencils, activity books, even disposable cameras (kids sometimes take the best photos!), fidget toys, customised bracelets, bubbles, play dough – depending on how much mess can be made at your venue of course!
- Photo Booth with Album. Rent a Photo Booth that prints instant photos that guests can get done of themselves. Place a empty album and some tape near by so that guests can tape the photo of themselves into the album and write you a note. TIP: Write a prompt of what they can write to you such as “Bucket list”. Guests can start a bucket list for your marriage of activities they dare the newly weds to achieve throughout their marriage – Giving you plenty of date night ideas!
- Live Drawing at a Wedding. Hire an artist to do a live drawing of the newly wed couple at the wedding location. They start off with you there – the rest they keep painting off a photo so you don’t have to stand there for 6 hours in one pose! TIP: Use a photocopy of this image in your thank you cards you may choose to post to guests post wedding!
And that’s it for now! 12 simple but unforgettable ideas you can incorporate into your wedding. A wedding doesn’t have to be crazy expensive and if it already is – well here’s some cheap touches you can add without blowing your budget further!
