How to Plan a Hens Party on the Gold Coast That Actually Keeps Everyone Happy

Planning a hens party sounds like a pretty fun job, right? Until you realise you’ve got 15 girls to organise, three different budgets, a bride who says she’s “happy with anything” and a group chat where nobody can agree on a date, let alone an activity!

Sound familiar?

One of the biggest challenges when planning a hens party on the Gold Coast isn’t finding things to do. Trust us, there’s PLENTY! It’s finding something that actually suits everyone.

You’ve got the girls who want cocktails and dancing, the ones who’d rather spend the afternoon relaxing by a pool, the pregnant friend, the bride’s mum, and that one bridesmaid who’s already worried about how much everything is going to cost.

But here’s the good news. You absolutely can plan an amazing hens party without everyone having to enjoy exactly the same things.

Here’s how we’d do it!

1. Remember Who the Hens Party Is Actually For

First things first. The bride!

It’s surprisingly easy to get caught up trying to please everyone else and forget about the person you’re actually celebrating.

Before you start booking anything, have a think about what your bride genuinely enjoys.

Is she someone who loves getting dressed up, drinking cocktails and dancing until midnight? Or would she much rather spend an afternoon making pottery, enjoying a long lunch and catching up with her favourite people?

And don’t feel like you need to follow the traditional hens party formula either.

We’ve seen everything from wild boat parties with topless waiters to beautiful, relaxed afternoons filled with cocktails, craft activities and good food.

The best hens parties aren’t necessarily the most expensive or outrageous ones. They’re the ones that feel like the bride.

2. Stop Trying to Make Every Activity Suit Every Guest

This is probably our biggest piece of advice!

When you’ve got a mix of ages and personalities, trying to find one activity that everybody absolutely loves can be almost impossible.

Instead, plan a day with a little bit of variety.

For example, a Gold Coast hens party itinerary could look something like this:

11:00 AM – A Relaxed Start

Kick things off with a beautiful brunch, high tea or even a private creative workshop. Something where everyone can sit down, chat and get to know each other.

2:00 PM – Something Fun and Interactive

Time for a cocktail making class! These are always a huge hit because everyone gets involved, there’s plenty of laughing, and you don’t need to be a big drinker to enjoy the experience.

5:00 PM – The Party Begins

Hop aboard a private party bus and head off for a sunset boat party, complete with your own music, drinks and maybe a cheeky surprise for the bride!

8:00 PM – The After-Party

For the girls who want to keep going, finish the night at one of the Gold Coast’s many bars or nightclubs.

The beauty of an itinerary like this? Guests who prefer an earlier night can enjoy the daytime activities without feeling like they have to commit to a massive night out.

And the party girls still get their big night!

3. Be Upfront About the Budget From the Beginning

Ahh, the hens party budget. Possibly the most awkward part of organising the whole thing!

Nobody wants to be the person asking everyone for more money, and nobody wants to feel embarrassed about saying something is too expensive.

Our advice? Get a rough idea of what everyone is comfortable spending BEFORE you start locking things in.

Remember to factor in:

  • Activities and entertainment
  • Food and drinks
  • Transport between venues
  • Accommodation, if you’re making a weekend of it
  • The bride’s share, if the group is covering her costs

And don’t forget the little extras! Decorations, outfits, drinks and those last-minute bits and pieces can add up surprisingly quickly.

One thing we always recommend is working out a clear per-person cost so everyone knows exactly what they’re committing to.

That’s actually one of the reasons so many hens groups choose to book through us at Rani Hens Parties. We can put together the activities, transport and timings, and work out the costs so you’re not constantly chasing quotes from five different businesses.

4. Choose Activities That Are Fun Even If You’re Not Drinking

Let’s be realistic. Not everyone at a hens party wants to spend the whole day drinking!

You might have pregnant guests, mums who don’t drink much, or simply girls who prefer doing something rather than sitting at a bar all afternoon.

Luckily, there are so many fun Gold Coast hens party activities that don’t revolve entirely around alcohol.

Some of our favourites include:

Pottery & Sip: Get creative with clay, have a laugh at everyone’s questionable artistic abilities and take something home at the end.

Turkish Mosaic Lamp Making: Such a beautiful activity, especially for groups wanting something a little different.

Private Dance Classes: Whether it’s something cheeky or just a fun group routine, these always get everyone laughing.

Luxury Picnics: Perfect for a relaxed afternoon with gorgeous styling, grazing food and plenty of time to catch up.

Bathhouse & Wellness Experiences: Hot pools, saunas, cold plunges and a little pampering before the celebrations kick off.

And of course, you can always combine one of these with something a little more lively afterwards!

5. Think About the Bride’s Mum, Aunties and Older Guests

We LOVE a hens party with a mix of generations!

Honestly, some of the funniest hens parties we’ve seen have involved the bride’s mum or aunties getting more involved than the bridesmaids!

But it’s still worth considering everyone’s comfort levels.

For example, if you’re planning a full-day event with lots of walking, standing around and moving between venues, it might not be ideal for some older guests.

A private boat cruise, cocktail class or seated workshop can be a great option because everyone can participate at their own pace.

And don’t automatically assume the older guests want the quiet activities either.

We’ve met plenty of mums who are absolutely the life of the party!

6. Don’t Underestimate How Important Transport Is

This is something people often forget until they’ve already booked everything.

You’ve organised a beautiful lunch in Broadbeach, a cocktail class in Mermaid Beach and a boat party departing from Main Beach. By the way, check out Rani Cruises for some epic boat parties!

Sounds amazing!

Except now you’ve got 15 girls trying to book Ubers at the same time, half the group is running late and somebody’s lost their phone.

Not exactly the glamorous hens party experience you imagined.

When planning a Gold Coast hens party itinerary, we always recommend looking at where activities are located and how the group will get between them.

Sometimes a private party bus works out surprisingly well when the cost is split between everyone.

Plus, it becomes another part of the experience! Music, drinks, lights and all the girls together rather than being split between multiple cars.

That’s a win in our books.

7. Give Everyone a Little Breathing Room

One mistake we see quite often is trying to squeeze WAY too much into one day.

We get it. You’re on the Gold Coast, you’ve got everyone together and there are so many things you want to do!

But nobody wants to spend their entire hens party watching the clock.

Allow time for people to get ready, take photos, eat something, have a drink and actually enjoy the activities you’ve organised.

A little bit of downtime can make the whole day feel much more relaxed.

And if you’re planning a full hens weekend, don’t feel like every single hour needs to be filled.

Sometimes a slow morning with coffees and breakfast after a big night is exactly what everyone needs.

8. Remember, You Don’t Have to Organise Everything Yourself!

This one’s especially for the maid of honour who’s currently juggling 47 messages, six different suppliers and a spreadsheet that’s getting completely out of hand.

Planning a hens party should be exciting, not another full-time job!

At Rani Hens Parties, we organise hens parties across the Gold Coast, from individual activities through to complete weekends.

We can help with accommodation, cocktail classes, boat parties, party buses, entertainment, creative workshops, restaurants and all the little details in between.

And because we work directly with local suppliers, we know which activities work well together, how long to allow between bookings and what makes a genuinely great hens party.

We can even help with those last-minute changes that always seem to pop up!

The best part? You get to actually enjoy the celebrations rather than spending the whole day making phone calls and checking the time.

The Secret to a Great Hens Party? A Little Bit of Everything!

At the end of the day, you’re never going to find an activity that every single guest loves equally, and that’s completely fine.

The trick is creating a celebration that feels balanced, includes a few different experiences and, most importantly, makes the bride feel special.

Whether you’re planning a relaxed afternoon with the girls, a wild night out or an entire hens weekend on the Gold Coast, there’s always a way to make it work.

And if you’re not sure where to start, that’s exactly what we’re here for!
